Ben Newby, Executive Director: Digital and Transformation to deliver keynote speech at upcoming artificial intelligence (AI) conference

Ben will join a panel of esteemed educationalists to deliver a keynote speech at a Policy Forum for Wales event to discuss the future of AI in education in Wales.

Commenting on his participation at the flagship conference, Ben Newby, Executive Director: Digital and Transformation, said: “Artificial Intelligence is a hot topic, impacting a range of arenas from politics to music, but most pertinently, education. Whilst there are clear risks associated with this advancement, we must adopt a balanced viewpoint and explore the opportunities of this software.

As our education system evolves, so too, do the resources available to both teachers and learners. Within my keynote, I aim to explore the risks, ethical considerations, and opportunities that AI presents to us. I will consider steps that we can take to mitigate risks, whilst also considering how we can enhance both the teaching and learning experience.

I look forward to meeting with delegates and exploring this fascinating area.”

Ben will lead a session titled ‘The safe and ethical use of AI and its impact on qualifications in Wales’, where he will explore how 鶹Ƶ can maintain the integrity of our assessments, whilst enabling teachers and learners to harness, safely, this evolving tool.
